Medronho Tasting

Medronho is the Algarve’s best-kept secret, and it begins in the hills above Monchique. We start with a guided hike through the Serra, among the wild Medronho trees whose fruit goes into every bottle.

Then we head to Marmelete, where the Casa do Medronho tells the story behind the spirit. It’s a community distillery, interpretation centre and local shop in the heart of the village, and it was created to preserve this ancestral craft.

You’ll see the traditional process from fruit to still and taste the difference between producers. A local table of honey, sausages and sweets rounds out the afternoon.
