Just inland from the coast, Arvad sits on the left bank of the Arade River, with twelve hectares of vineyards facing the historic skyline of Silves. The name means “refuge”, a nod to the Phoenician roots of winemaking in the Algarve, and the idea here is to taste a place as much as a wine. It’s the perfect counterpoint to a week of golf: a slow, scenic afternoon among the vines, with no tee times and no scorecard.
Your visit begins with a guided walk through the vineyards and winery, where you learn how the wines are made and what sets this corner of the Algarve apart. Then it’s time to taste. You’ll try three of Arvad’s signature wines (a white, a red and a rosé), followed by a premium wine of your choice from the reserve and speciality range, such as the Touriga Nacional, the Reserva or the Negra Mole.
Included: guided visit to the vineyards and winery, tasting of three signature wines plus one premium wine of your choice, and regional bread, cheese and olive oil to go with them.
